My wife and I plus another couple traveled by Amtrak to Springfield for a 3 day/2 nite stay. The hosts picked us up at the Depot and we were quite pleased at the size of the rooms as well as the decor. Complimentary wine, cheese & crackers from 5 - 7 PM, walking distance to all the sites in historical Springfield, menus to help you select a place to eat, great cookies left at your door before bedtime; excellent breakfasts every morning and the Conns & their staff were attentive to everyone's one's needs. Within 4-5 blocks of most historic sites but also a very quiet neighborhood made for a restful, refreshing sleep. Next time we go to Springfield, this will be the place we return to.

Inn at 835 was a perfect hub for visiting the sites in Lincoln's city. We loved the quiet comfortable spaces, the antique-furnished rooms, afternoon wine and cheese and chef-prepared breakfast in the pleasant dining room. The staff was very gracious and helpful. In May, there weren't many tourists or crowds in the area, so our stay was quite relaxing. The surrounding residential neighborhood is not glamorous so the view from the porches wasn't spectacular, but we appreciated being able to have our coffee outside. Plenty of parking, close to the things you want to see in Springfield. It was nice to stay in a historic building (a former luxury apt building from the 1920s) on a trip that was all about history.
